"Unitarian Universalists like to talk and to listen. We like to tell our stories, share our opinions and questions, and hear the thoughts and experiences of others. We come together to seek companionship in our religious, spiritual and intellectual journeys. We look for ways to seek justice and live our values. In all these endeavors, we seek mutual support, fellowship, and fun. And yet we have so little time together. "

What are we?

The Adult Discussion Group encourages an open exchange of free flowing ideas on broadly spiritual themes based on selected books and articles of interest.

This group enables us to affirm and promote some of our UU principles, especially:

  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person.

Our discussions are usually fueled by a book or article dealing with a matter of faith or spirituality. This is defined in the broad sense.

Some of the books we have read in the past few years include:

"Ethics for a New Millennium" by The Dalai Lama

"Proverbs of Ashes" by Brock and Parker

"The Question of God" by Nicholi

"Terror and Liberalism" by Berman

"From Science to God" by Russell

"Meeting Jesus Again for the First time" by Borg

"Jesus and the Missing Goddess" by Freke and Gandy

"The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Campbell

"The End of Faith" by Sam Harris

This group is open to everyone. We invite you to come, whether you have read the current selection or not.

We meet alternate Sunday mornings
from 9:00 to 10:20.
